SMS Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: June 20, 2026
Program Description
Recepta Desk operates an SMS messaging program that delivers transactional and informational messages on behalf of itself and its business clients (chiropractic clinics and other healthcare practices). Messages may include appointment confirmations, appointment reminders, missed-call follow-ups, scheduling assistance, re-engagement messages for previous patients, and service-related notifications.
Consent to Receive Messages
Transactional and informational messages. By providing your mobile phone number to Recepta Desk or a clinic using Recepta Desk's services — through a web form, in-person intake, voice call, or by calling or texting the clinic — you consent to receive transactional and informational SMS text messages related to your care, such as appointment confirmations and reminders, scheduling replies, and missed-call follow-ups. These are sent because you provided your number in the context of your care.
Marketing and re-engagement messages. Promotional and re-engagement ("check-in") messages, such as an invitation to schedule a visit when you are due, are sent only if you give prior express consent, in writing or by replying with an opt-in keyword (such as YES) from your own phone. A verbal agreement alone does not qualify for these messages.
Your consent is not required as a condition of purchasing any goods or services.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your interactions with the clinic. You may receive messages including but not limited to:
- Appointment confirmations and reminders (typically 1–3 per appointment)
- Replies to inquiries you initiate
- Follow-up messages after missed calls
- Periodic re-engagement ("check-in") messages, only if you have opted in to them (no more than once every 90 days unless you respond)
Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Recepta Desk does not charge for the messages themselves, but your mobile carrier may charge you according to your plan. Contact your carrier for details.
Opt-Out Instructions
You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After replying STOP, you will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and you will not receive further messages unless you opt back in.
To opt back in, reply START or UNSTOP to the same number.
If you have opted in to marketing or re-engagement ("check-in") messages and want to stop only those while still receiving transactional messages (such as appointment confirmations and reminders), reply PAUSE. Replying STOP stops all messages.
You may also opt out by any reasonable means, including a plain-language request to stop. Recepta Desk maintains a written do-not-call policy, available on request at the contact below.

Supported Carriers
This service is available on most major US carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, and others. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy & HIPAA Compliance
Your mobile phone number and message content are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Healthcare-Grade Security
Recepta Desk SMS is BAA-covered and HIPAA-compliant. Within our infrastructure, message content is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256), with restricted, audit-logged access. SMS itself is not end-to-end encrypted: text messages travel over the carrier network, which is outside our control. Keep medical details out of text and use SMS for appointment logistics. This means:
- Message content is encrypted and access-controlled within our systems, and is decrypted only to deliver to your clinic and for audit logging
- All message activity is audit-logged for compliance
- Your clinic can safely use Recepta Desk for appointment logistics, confirmations, and follow-ups
Best practice: Use SMS for appointment logistics, confirmations, and follow-ups. Patient medical records and diagnoses should remain in your EMR.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to enroll in this messaging program.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these SMS Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the SMS service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
